House System

- St. John Paul II Catholic High School
  House System Purpose
  
  In 2021, St. John Paul II Catholic High School launched the inaugural House System. At JPII, every student, faculty, and staff member belongs to one of the four houses: Blessed Mother, Divine Mercy, Holy Cross, or Holy Gospel. Each House is represented by an important aspect of St. John Paul II’s life and mission. The goal of the House System is to provide an opportunity for students and faculty to interact across grade levels in healthy competition and support each other as they grow in faith and fellowship.
  
  Students learn to work hard individually for the good of their house in addition to working as a team. The JPII House System also encourages leadership through the House Council as it is the students who are the ultimate stewards of the House System. Houses compete against each other in the areas of academics, athletics, behavior, and school spirit.
  
  At the end of the year, one house wins the House Championship Cup and receives the reward of half a school day at the Main Event to celebrate their hard work. To date, every house has won the House Championship with Holy Gospel being the first house to win a second House Championship. Each House Championship besides being engraved on the House Cup is commemorated with a Championship Banner in the Gym Foyer.

  House Council
  
  The JPII House Council is made up of the Dean of Houses and two Senior House Commissioners, who lead the House Council and the House System. Each house has a Senior President, Junior Vice President, and Sophomore/Freshman Captains and is assisted by a Faculty House Sponsor.
  
  Besides planning, organizing, and implementing House Sorting and Inductions, House competitions, House Meetings and Assemblies, Socials, Feast Days, and other House activities, the members of the House Council work to foster a sense of community and fellowship within their respective houses and to serve as a liaison between the school administration and student body, voicing concerns and interests of the student body, and proposing ideas to strengthen and grow the JPII community.
