From JPII to Auburn After graduating from JPII, Lexie Hare pursued her passion for agriculture at Auburn University. She initially majored in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Resources Management with a minor in Horticulture, but later shifted to Agricultural Communications, a field that aligned more closely with her strengths in writing, marketing, education, and storytelling. During her time at Auburn, Lexie was an active member of the campus community, serving as Secretary for the American Fisheries Society, Marketing Director for Eagle Eye TV, and completing internships in Communications and Marketing with both Auburn's College of Agriculture and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. She worked as a District Executive for Scouting America in the Chattahoochee Scouting Council, where she supports Scouting units in the Auburn, AL area through recruitment, fundraising, event promotion, and volunteer engagement. Lexie credits her strong academic foundation at JPII for preparing her to succeed in college, and her hard work was recognized with Auburn's Summer 2025 Dean's Award for Academic and Professional Excellence.
Lexie's Learnings
Do not hesitate to seek help from academics, mental health professionals, or others who can offer emotional support. Professors do care, and they want to help their students. Most universities offer free resources to support mental and emotional well-being.
Research before declaring a major. Consider potential jobs, careers, locations, and the required courses. It could save you from changing majors later and might even open your eyes to a new path you hadn't considered.
Join a club if you can; it's a great way to meet new people and get more involved on campus.
Apply for internships early and often. They are helpful for job hunting after graduation, campus events-clubs, alumni gatherings, or networking opportunities-because you never know who you'll meet or what doors might open for your future career or internship.
Network, network, network! Going to any campus events, such as clubs, alumni, or local network opportunities, as you'll never know who you could meet or who could be your future employer or internship connections.
JPII is so proud of all Lexie has accomplished and wishes her the best on the rest of her journey!
